ENGINEERED FOR PURE RACING PERFORMANCE, THE SHIMANO DURA-ACE PD-R9300 INTRODUCES THE NEXT-GENERATION SPD-SLR ROAD PEDAL SYSTEM, COMBINING AN ULTRA-LOW STACK HEIGHT, EXTRA-WIDE CARBON-COMPOSITE PLATFORM, FASTER ENGAGEMENT AND REFINED BEARING SYSTEM FOR AN EXCEPTIONALLY STABLE, EFFICIENT AND DIRECT CONNECTION BETWEEN RIDER AND BIKE.
KEY FEATURES
Next-Generation SPD-SLR System
The DURA-ACE PD-R9300 introduces Shimano's new SPD-SLR road pedal platform. Rather than developing the pedal in isolation, Shimano has engineered the shoe, cleat and pedal interfaces together as an integrated system, reducing unnecessary movement and creating a more direct connection between rider and bicycle.
2.3 mm Lower Stack Height
A completely redesigned cleat-to-pedal interface reduces stack height by 2.3 mm compared with SPD-SL, bringing the rider's foot closer to the pedal axle. The shorter distance creates a more stable pedalling platform while improving power transfer and control during climbing, sprinting and sustained high-power efforts.
Faster 10.5 Degree Engagement
SPD-SLR introduces a wider catch zone together with a narrower 10.5 degree engagement angle, compared with 15.5 degrees for SPD-SL. This allows riders to engage the pedal more quickly and naturally when accelerating from a stop, exiting corners or launching into a sprint.
11% Increased Stiffness
The redesigned axle uses widely positioned bearings for more even load distribution, delivering an 11% increase in stiffness compared with the previous PD-R8200 and creating more direct power transfer under maximum load.
53% Reduced Rotational Resistance
Internally, a heat-treated axle and refined bearing surfaces reduce rotational resistance by 53% compared with the PD-R8200, helping deliver exceptionally smooth pedal rotation.
Extra-Wide Carbon-Composite Platform
The lightweight injection-moulded carbon-composite body uses an extra-wide platform to provide excellent foot support, stability and efficient power transfer.
Integrated Stainless Steel Contact Plate
An integrated stainless steel contact plate improves engagement and increases stiffness through the pedal-to-cleat interface while providing a durable contact surface.
No-Gap Pedal-To-Cleat Interface
The ultra-low-stack SPD-SLR design eliminates the gap between pedal and cleat, helping improve stability and create a more direct connection for efficient power transfer.
Lightweight SPD-SLR Cleat System
Shimano's redesigned SPD-SLR cleats weigh up to 25% less than their SPD-SL equivalents while maintaining the durability expected from Shimano's road pedal platform. High-contrast alignment markings also make installation and repositioning easier and more repeatable.
WHY TO CHOOSE
The Shimano DURA-ACE PD-R9300 represents the next generation of Shimano's flagship road racing pedal, introducing a completely redesigned SPD-SLR interface engineered to improve the connection between rider and bike.
By developing the pedal, cleat and compatible footwear as an integrated system, Shimano has reduced stack height, increased stiffness and created faster, more intuitive engagement. The extra-wide carbon-composite platform provides excellent support under hard efforts, while the refined axle and bearing system significantly reduces rotational resistance.
For road racers and performance-focused riders looking for Shimano's most advanced road pedal technology, the PD-R9300 delivers a lower, stiffer and more direct pedalling platform designed for efficient power transfer from the first pedal stroke to the final sprint.
PERFECT FOR
Road racing, criteriums, climbing, sprinting, fast bunch rides, high-intensity training and performance-focused road cycling where efficient power transfer, stability and precise engagement are priorities.
SPD-SLR COMPATIBILITY
IMPORTANT: SPD-SLR IS A NEW PEDAL AND CLEAT SYSTEM.
The Shimano PD-R9300 requires Shimano SPD-SLR cleats. Existing Shimano SPD-SL cleats are not compatible with SPD-SLR pedals.
SPD-SLR cleats can, however, be fitted to compatible existing Shimano three-bolt SPD-SL road shoes. Riders receive the full performance benefits of the new system when SPD-SLR shoes, SPD-SLR cleats and SPD-SLR pedals are used together.
Shimano offers multiple SPD-SLR cleat options, allowing riders to select the movement characteristics and fit requirements that best suit their riding.
STANDARD OR LONG AXLE?
This listing is for the Standard Axle PD-R9300.
The PD-R9300 is also available separately in a Long Axle version with a 4 mm longer axle, increasing stance width for riders whose biomechanics, bike fit or preferred riding position require their feet to sit further from the crank.
For riders who do not specifically require increased stance width, the Standard Axle version provides Shimano's standard DURA-ACE road pedal positioning.
