ABOUT THE MIPS AIR NODE PADSET
The MIPS Air Node is a Brain Protection System designed to enhance safety without adding noticeable weight or bulk to the helmet. The system features a low-friction layer laminated directly to the base of the comfort padding, connected to the helmet's energy-absorbing liner via hook-and-loop Air Node attachments.
In the event of an angled impact, these nodes are engineered to release, allowing the padding to slide approximately 10-15mm relative to the helmet shell. This controlled movement helps redirect rotational forces away from the head, reducing the risk of rotational brain injury.
The Air Node system is minimally integrated and almost invisible, making it ideal for highly ventilated, lightweight helmets such as the Giant and Liv Rail models. The pads are removable and washable, with hand washing in cold water using mild soap and air drying recommended. Regular replacement of helmet padding helps maintain comfort and hygiene, as sweat and wear can degrade materials over time.
